Great Orton Primary School plays an active role in our local community which helps the children connect with their local area and understand the world around them. We regularly visit the village shop to understand how businesses serve the community and go to the local church to learn about Christianity.

We have an excellent relationship with the local parish council who are very supportive of our school and who often ask the children to participate in events such as planting bulbs around the village. The village hall provides an excellent venue for school events such  as concerts and productions.

The children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 go to a local private swimming pool for lessons in the Autumn term. Our local woods and Watchtree Nature Reserve provide wonderful resources for the children to learn about nature and the environment.

These experiences help our children build strong relationships with local people, develop a sense of belonging and appreciate the importance of community life  while strengthening the links between the school and the wider village community.

We are extremely fortunate to have such facilities around us to enhance our teaching and learning
